Overview

Embark on a guided day tour to the eastern jewels of Salalah to discover the wonderful Taqa village and pass by the Royal Farm and Marmura House. Taqa village is known for dried sardines, traditional & old Dhofari Houses. Obtain a glimpse into the rich history of this area and spot a very interesting castle and the former official residence of the Governor of Taqa village. Continue onward to see the ruins of Sumhurum (Khor Rori) which was once the outpost for an ancient incense route between the Mediterranean Sea, Persian Gulf and India. Khor Rori was an important port on the coast of Dhofar, and one of the major trading cities with frankincense and also believed to be the palace of the famous Queen sheba.

Next you drive through the mountain down to Wadi Darbat - the ancient capital of Dhofar. This is one of the famous wadis among wadis Oman. There is a lovely lake which leads to a 500ft vertical drop over and is easily of the world’s most magnificent natural phenomena to exist in Oman. Thereafter visit Tawi Atayr one of the world’s largest Sink Holes (211 m deep & 150 m in diameter) before discovering the Well of Birds where birds frequent this location, the year through.

Continue to visit Jabal Samhan sitting at 2100 meters and enjoy Panoramic view from the top of the mountain and see some animals as camels or Nubian goats. On the last leg of your tour enjoy a drive along the coastal road which leads you to Mirbat the old city of Arabian horses and Slave trade and then pass by Mirbat Castle and the Old Merchant Houses before stopping for a photo stop at Bin Ali tomb which dates back to the 14th century!
