The Queen Charlotte Track is located at the top of New Zealand's South Island in the Marlborough Sounds. It was on this historic track that English explorer Captain James Cook set foot when he sailed into the settled waters of the Marlborough Sounds in the late 17th century. The 71-kms track offers a spectacular trip through the Marlborough Sounds, from the historic Ship Cove through to Anakiwa in the Grove Arm giving unsurpassed views of Queen Charlotte and Kenepuru Sounds.

Join in for a modern day journey in Cook’s footsteps along the renowned Queen Charlotte Track. Explore this vast network of drowned river valleys from the unique perspective of this well-formed track. Here lush coastal beech forest reaches out to greet lapping tides of ever-changing hues.

You will be picked up from your hotel and taken on a Queen Charlotte Track Walk in the picturesque Marlborough region. An experienced local guide will accompany you on this tour.

Travel to the pier in Picton after your hotel pick-up. Here you will take a boat cruise and head for Ship Cove.

Cruise past salmon farms and sea birds on a beautiful voyage to Ship Cove, an historic and scenic reserve that Captain Cook visited several times in the 17th century.

Walk along the Queen Charlotte Track that begins from Ship Cove to Endeavour Inlet (14km - five hours approx.). The tour will be carried out on the premier section of the track.

The surrounding bush is mainly a mixture of stunning podocarp and beech forest with punga ferns and other New Zealand native foliage.

Admire the many beautiful views across the Marlborough Sounds. Your informative local guide will explain the European and pre-European connections of this significant historical area as well as provide detailed information on flora and fauna.

Enjoy a gourmet lunch here. Return by your cruise boat from Ship Cove to Picton. At the end of the tour, you will be dropped back at your hotel.
