The tour ends at Central Paris.
The journey begins with the discovery of the charming village of Auvers sur Oise where Vincent Van Gogh spent the last days of his life. He painted approximately 70 works during his time there.
The sightseeing tour of Giverny visits Monet’s house and garden where you will see the famous Japanese bridge and water lilies and visit the cemetery where the famous artist was buried.
Your private car and driver/ guide will collect you from your hotel in Paris at around 08:45am. Relax as you drive through the scenic French countryside to Auvers sur Oise.
On the way from Paris to Auvers, your driver-guide will provide you with a brief and colourful introduction to Van Gogh’s life and works. Upon your arrival in Auvers, visit the house of Doctor Gachet, a passionate art collector and dear friend of Van Gogh, “immortalised” by him several times.
Following a walk through the main street of the village, see the “Auberge Ravoux”, Van Gogh’s last residence. To round off the visit, stop at the church of Auvers, made famous by Van Gogh’s painting. Drive to the cemetery of Auvers to pay a tribute to Theo and Vincent Van Gogh’s final resting place.
On the way from Auvers to Giverny, you will stop for lunch (direct payable) at a 250-year-old picturesque watermill. Before arriving at Giverny, the driver-guide will tell you about Monet’s life and work, followed by a guided visit of Monet’s house in Giverny, the formal enclosed Norman garden and the water garden with the famous pond and Japanese bridge.
Drive back to Paris along the “Route des Crêtes” and see the exceptional panorama overlooking the Seine Valley unfold before you. You can also see a watch-tower of the 10th century built at the time of the Viking Invasion and the 12th century château of La Roche Guyon - the headquarters of General Erwin Rommel during World War II.
To conclude the visit, stop at the village of Vetheuil where Claude Monet lived for 3 years. On the return journey, there will be a cider and goat cheese tasting at a local farm or cake and coffee.
At the end of the tour, you will be returned to central Paris. You will arrive in Paris at around 6:00pm.
Please email or send an sms the tour operator at least 72 hours prior to start of the tour to confirm all details. Required details are mentioned in your voucher.
