The thrilling Sigatoka Jet-Boat Safari: takes you on a 17 km scenic cruise into the Sigatoka valley, discovering the fertile area known as the “Salad Bowl” of Fiji.
At the start of the trip you will be picked up from your resort and taken to the local activity operator’s base in Sigatoka town.
You will be provided with your life jackets and a safety briefing by the jet boat captain and then it's time to board. As you begin your journey up the magnificent river you will hear about the history of the region, including its cannibal past! Children from villages along the river wave as you cruise past and the water is so clear you will be able to see fish and rocks on the river bottom.
When you reach your village destination, you are given a warm welcome by the villagers. Your jet-boat safari operator is careful to visit a different village every day, to minimize the impact of tourism on the village lifestyle in this remote part of the world.
You will then visit the village Chief's bure (house) or community hall and take part in a ‘Kava’ ceremony. Kava (Piper methysticum) is an age-old herbal drink that was the beverage of choice for the royal families of the South Pacific. The Kava welcome ceremony is one of the most important Fijian traditions.
You will then enjoy a tour of the village and a traditional Fijian lunch, including wonderful fresh tropical fruit.
Your village visit ends with traditional Fijian singing and dancing and then it's time to board your jet boat again for the return trip.
During the trip there will be a chance to swim in the clear river waters if you wish.
At the end of the jet-boat ride you will be picked up by a vehicle and driven back to your resort.
Please call the activity operator at least 24 hours prior to start of the tour for reconfirming departure details.
The local activity operator reserves the right to cancel or amend any trip due to river, road or weather conditions. Stringent safety procedures are observed. The tour operator cannot be held responsible for personal injury or for loss or damage of equipment
