Overview

Enter a botanist’s paradise and see a unique range of flora at Kinabalu National Park. Enjoy a guided trail inside the park, followed by a dip in the hot springs of Poring.

You will reach Kinabalu National Park, located at the base of Mount Kinabalu. Standing at 4095 meters above sea level, Mount Kinabalu is the highest mountain in South East Asia. Its foothills have an incredible diversity of flora and fauna and make up one of the most important biological sites in the world. Home to over 1500 types of orchids, 330 species of birds, 26 species of rhododendrons, fern, pitcher plants and others.

During your trail in the park, you will come across Rafflesia, the world's biggest flower, and the giant pitcher plant Nepenthes Raja, which can hold up to 3.5 liters of water and has even been known to catch frogs and small mammals. The forest trees are festooned with colorful orchids, which make it a delight to walk the trails. Amongst the birds, you will spot mountain bush warbler, Kinabalu friendly warbler, pale-faced bulbul and mountain black eye. Small mammals found in the jungle include mountain squirrels, tree shrews and bats.

After the walk, you will take a lunch break and then continue to Poring hot springs. The springs are known for their therapeutic properties and the sulfuric waters are said to ease aching muscles. Take a therapeutic dip in the open-air bathtubs with running sulfur water flowing naturally from the earth’s crust.
