Overview

The best way to spend a few hours in Jaipur is to immerse yourself in its rich history with a visit to Amber Fort to gaze at its miniature paintings at a museum tour at Jaigarh Fort. Standing tall over a small hillock overlooking the Pink city, Amber is a classic romantic Rajasthani Fort-Palace. The rugged, time-ravaged walls of this Fort look awesome from the outside, but the interior is a virtual paradise.

Miniatures painted on the walls depict hunting and war scenes and festivals and every inch of the palatial grounds carries a rich history behind it. Take a look at precious stones and mirrors that are embedded into the plaster and still somehow intact!

Wrap up your day with a visit to the imposing Jaigarh Fort built by Jai Singh in 1726. The iconic edifice commands a fine view of the plains so be sure to take lots of photos from the stunning view point! The fort has a small museum, the largest wheeled canon in the world and three huge water tanks so cover as much ground as you can and take home souvenirs for family and friends.
