See a preserved royal bathing facility from the 16th century when you skip the line and enter Ambras Castle in Innsbruck.
The residence of the imperial family of the 800-year-old Innsbruck, Ambras Castle is home to a massive art collection of one of Archduke Ferdinand II, Habsburg's biggest art collector. You will see Gothic sculptures, portraits and glass artefacts in the world's oldest museum.
Visit the Upper Castle's Inner Courtyard filled with frescoes depicting the deeds of heroes and heroines and see the Chapel of St Nicholas, filled with 14th-century embroideries. The Lower Castle has the armouries, the Chamber of Art and Curiosities, the stucco work in the Spanish Hall that shows the first 12 Roman emperors, from Caesar to Domitian.
