Overview

An exceptional wetland ecosystem that is also a UNESCO listed reserve, the Can Gio Biosphere Reserve is an important wildlife sanctuary in Vietnam dominated by mangroves and a stunning array of rare species. This half day guided tour of Can Gio is perfect for both wildlife enthusiasts as well as those looking for an escape from overtly touristy experiences or even from the madness of city life.

Our journey begins with a convenient hotel transfer to Tan Cang pier from where we will board our luxury speedboat to the mangrove forest. Dig into a light yet delectable breakfast of cakes from Pat' a Chou along with LaVie water and seasonal fruits, all while savouring a slice of local life as you watch people go about their lives. Arriving at Can Gio Mangrove forest, we will embark on a small wooden boat and begin snaking our way through the breathtaking swamps of mangrove. While cruising through the reserve, you’ll get to learn about the typical flora and fauna from here and hear all about how chemical warfare almost ravaged the area as well as how it is being brought back to life. Keep your ears open and you can even hear the different birds, especially bats, screeching from the tree tops.

We’ll finally land at Vam Sat, an exceptional vantage point from where you can feast your eyes on a spectacular panorama of the entire mangrove forest. The incredible biosphere reserve provides a myriad of fantastic experiences - from observing wild birds and their mating patterns (these can be seen between May and October) to encountering endangered crocodiles and learning about their life cycles, meeting long-tailed monkeys or even feeding them, walking along nature trails, challenging yourself to a dose of thrill crossing the suspension bridge, and much, much more. You can even indulge in the badass adventure of standing on a boat while angling for crocodiles - scary but so worth it!

We’ll finally sit down for a quite local lunch, relaxing in a coconut tree hut and reminiscing about our wonderful day before heading back home.
