Overview

Escape the humdrum of city life and dive into the beauty of rural Vietnam with this soul-satiating tour of the Mekong Delta. Literally translating to ‘Mother of Water’ in Thai, the Mekong is one of the largest and most biodiverse rivers in the world, besides supporting most of the agricultural output in the country. This tour will get you up close and personal with life in the countryside and the communities holding up Vietnam’s supply of food.

We will begin with a two-and-a-half-hour drive to My Tho, a former naval base and currently a busy port, from where we will board a private boat to cruise along the Mekong. Our first stop is a beautiful fish farm where you can get a taste of the booming cottage industries in the country. Next up we will visit an island with gorgeous fruit farms where you can even sample a tropical fruit, getting a taste of the indigenous produce in Vietnam. Continuing our tryst with the cottage industries of the country, we will make a trip to a coconut candy factory, learning about the intriguing production process of these sweet delights.

Soak up the infectious ambiance of the Mekong and its stunning views as we meander along the calm waters, witnessing the native customs and culture of the residents of the Delta. The tour also includes a fun ride in a Xe Loi, a motorised cart, as well as a fabulous visit to a bee farm. The unforgettable experience continues as we keep cruising along the smaller canals and streams to sink into the spectacular panorama offered by the Mekong Delta. A delectable lunch at the Diem Phuong restaurant awaits you as a final halt, letting you savour the nuances of Vietnamese cuisine and ending your tour on a perfectly delicious note!

Voucher Information: No need to print! You can show your voucher on your smartphone or other devices. (But if you’d rather print a copy – that’s fine too!)

The confirmation voucher includes the local activity operator’s contact details. They’re a nice bunch, and will happily answer any logistical questions you may have. Please give them a call at least 24 hours before your organised activity to reconfirm.

We believe time is money! Show the local guide your voucher and you’ll be all set to go!

If you have your voucher, your booking is confirmed.

We allow a maximum of 16 people on this tour to make it more of an intimate experience. Nobody wants a crowd, you know!

While packing for your vacation in Vietnam, please remember that dressing standards are quite conservative throughout the country. You will have to make sure that your shoulders and knees are covered at all times, and wear modest clothing even while swimming in certain regions. Singlets, tank tops and topless sunbathing will have to given a miss. Loose, lightweight, long clothing is a good choice as it is both respectful and extremely comfortable in the predominantly hot Asian climate. Religious sites usually require men to wear full trousers and women to wear a long skirt or sarong while entering.

This activity is adults (and older children) only. Little ones under the age of 6 years will have to sit this one out, we’re afraid.

If you are coming with your child aged 6 - 11, please remember to specifically mention ‘child’ while booking the tour.Voucher Information: No need to print! You can show your voucher on your smartphone or other devices. (But if you’d rather print a copy – that’s fine too!)

Additional info

If you are happy with the services provided by your local guides, a tip - though not compulsory - is appropriate. While it may not be customary to you, it is of great significance to the people who will take care of you during your travels, inspires excellent service, and is an entrenched feature of the tourism industry across destinations. After all, everyone deserves a small token of appreciation, are we right? Please consider this when budgeting for your extra expenses on this tour.
