See the Old Oper, the former opera house built in 1880 and extensively damaged during World War II. Marvel at the soaring skyscrapers in the financial district, which give the city a distinctive skyline. See the Hauptwache building, dating from 1730, which was a prison. Itinerary

  • You can begin the Frankfurt City 1 Hour Tour at any of the 14 bus stops marked with the Greenline Hop on Hop off sign. The major stops are in front of Central station (H1) and Berliner Straße / Paul’s Church (H10). Have your printed booking voucher ready to hand to the driver upon boarding the open-top double-decker bus.

The tour begins with the Cathedral and proceeds to Goethe House, birthplace of Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, a German writer, artist, and politician.

You’ll marvel at the sprawling International Trade Fair grounds, home to the Frankfurt Trade Fair, the third largest worldwide. The oldest building is the Festhalle, a self-supporting dome structure made of steel and glass that was first opened to visitors in 1909. A tall Hammering Man sculpture stands on the pavement near its main entrance.

At the Old Opera (Alte Oper), you’ll have a chance to admire this former opera house that was built in 1880. It was one of the major opera houses in Germany until it was heavily damaged in World War II. Today it functions as a famous concert hall, while operas are performed at the "new" Oper Frankfurt.

In the banking quarter with its skyscrapers – among which the European Central Bank is the highest – you’ll gain an appreciation for how Frankfurt is the financial and transportation center of Germany and the largest financial center in continental Europe.

The Old Hauptwache building, dating from 1730, was a prison. Today it is associated with the inner-city underground train station of the same name, as well as the square surrounding the building. Situated in the city center, opposite to St. Catherine's Church, it houses a famous café.

Fans of shopping love the Zeil, Frankfurt’s main shopping street. Often dubbed "The Golden Mile" of Germany", the Zeil has something for everyone. The Zeilgalerie is equally as renowned for its architecture as for its shops.

Frankfurt was once surrounded by walls. You will see the big towers of the former city walls. The Staufer Wall (Staufermauer), from the 12th century, was part of the city’s first fortifications.

At the conclusion of your tour, you may alight at any of the 14 bus stops marked with the Greenline Hop on Hop off sign.
