Visit the official Scottish home of Her Majesty the Queen, the Palace of Holyroodhouse standing at the end of Edinburgh’s Royal Mile with Arthur’s Seat as the backdrop.
Spend as long as you like exploring the exquisitely decorated State Apartments where the Queen hosts lavish engagements and conducts official business. You will notice the change in tastes of the monarchs through the ages in its decorated ceilings, works of art and magnificent tapestries. Walk into the Throne Room and the Great Gallery, the largest room in the palace, full of Jacob de Wet’s portraits of legendary Kings of Scotland.
You will also see the chambers of Mary, the Queen of Scots and unfold its dramatic past including the murder of her Italian secretary by her husband.
Take a stroll in the palace’s unique gardens and explore the ruins of Holyrood Abbey.

The Palace is completely closed on April 10, May 12-23, June 24 - July 4 & December 25-26.
