Overview

Immerse yourself in the fantastical world of Tolkien’s timeless masterpiece, Lord of the Rings, on this incredible tour of Mt Sunday in Hakatere Conservation Park which formed the backdrop for Edoras in the movie franchise.

Presented as the spectacular capital city of Rohan, the sheer-sided hill makes for a breathtaking location with its natural, unspoilt beauty - doused in sparkling clear lakes, glistening blue rivers and fresh, crisp mountain air, the entire area is surreal to say the least. A thrilling 4WD ride takes on a mind-blowing trail across several small streams and right onto Edoras itself where you can relish a short guided walk to the summit - surrender yourself to the magical 360º views that greeted Eowyn too as he reached this marvellous place. We will also guide you along for an exceptional view of the Southern Alps which formed the backdrop for the Misty Mountains as well as the places that was used for Helms Deep.

But hey, that’s not all! From checking out exclusive behind-the-scenes photos of Edoras under construction, handling some epic movie replicas like Aragorn’s Sword, King Theoden’s Sword, Gimli’s Axe and Flag of Rohan, grabbing yourself some great deals on movie merchandise - this trip will keep you hooked and indulge your inner fanchild like no other! Sealing the deal is a delicious picnic lunch and a regaling commentary from our local Kiwi guides.

So, what are you waiting for? Come, discover the incredible location the LOTR cast and crew fell in love with!
