Depart from your hotel in a comfortable vehicle with an expert English speaking guide and head to the lush Eling Park - originally named Goose Nape Hill for its narrow shape resembling the nape of a goose’s neck! As you reach the park, behold a grand view of both Yangtze and Jialing Rivers. The park was built in 1909 as the first private garden in the city. Feel free to stroll through the gardens, join in with regular visitors practicing Tai Chi or bring a board game to relax on the grass.
Head next to the famous Chongqing Museum founded in 1951 which sits atop the Pipashan Mountain. Explore the museum’s range of exhibition halls docked with about 100,000 pieces of relics spanning over 3000 years. These incredible antiques include bronze wares, pottery, paintings, porcelain, sculptures, and more.
After building up an appetite, tuck into a delicious Chinese style lunch at a local establishment and treat yourself to an authentic meal. After lunch, head next to General Joseph Stilwell Museum, founded in memory of an American general who contributed a great deal to the Chinese peoplein military and political capacity.
Thereafter, head to a thousand year old building secured firmly between skyscrapers and apartment blocks – the Arhat Temple. Explore this place of worship which is also home to over a dozen monks. Admire the impressive entrance to the temple decorated with hundreds of terra-cotta sculptures. Walk around the temple with your expert heritage guide and learn all about the region’s culture.
For the last leg of the tour, visit the Chongqing Zoo to see adorable Chinese pandas and watch them from a close distance! Walk through the zoo and witness the natural habitat replica. After you capture memories of these adorable bears, enjoy a comfortable journey back to your hotel where the tour comes to a close.
