Embark on a walking tour of Mylapore widely considered the nub from where the rest of the city grew and an ancient town in the heart of modern Chennai predating the city by 2000 years! Mylapore has kept alive many traditions and art that Chennai is so well known for. On this guided walking tour, you discover some of those traditions.
The famous Kapaleeswara Temple is a fine example of the pure Dravidian style, with gopurams and mandapams, and is the epicenter around which the area of Mylapore is built. During this walk you can see the jewellers, silk merchants, fruit and vegetable sellers and the flower vendors in the bazaars.
The walk also takes you through small lanes with old-style homes, through silk shops, stores selling music and religious memorablia, etc. Feel free to make a photo stop and capture the perfect photo for your Instagram feed! Don’t forget to take home souvenirs for friends and family.
