Overview

Discover the Temple of Heaven, one of the largest parks in Beijing and enjoy a tour guide and pick up from your hotel. A dignified complex of fine cult buildings set in gardens and surrounded by historic pine woods. The Temple was built on a central axis. The southern extreme is a square wall representing the earth and at the northern extreme is a semicircular wall representing the heaven.

The design was based on the primitive belief that heaven is round and the earth is square. The Temple is divided by two enclosed walls into inner and outer parts. The most magnificent buildings are The Circular Mound Altar (Yuanqiutan), Imperial Vault of Heaven (Huangqiongyu) and Hall of Prayer for Good Harvest (Qiniandian). Almost all the buildings are connected by the Vermilion Steps Bridge, (Danbiqiao) called Sacred Way. This is an outstanding representation of Chinese traditional architecture for its clever design and harmonious colors.

Then we will go to a Silk Shop to enjoy Chinese Traditional Silk Arts.
