Overview

We present you with a Local English tour guide to Lama Temple, a famous lamasery located in the northeastern part of the old city of Beijing. It used to be the living quarters for Qing Emperor Yongzheng when he was a prince. It is a major site of Tibetan Buddhism, offering a colourful and lively backdrop against which to learn about the arrival of Buddhism in China and its role in religious life over the past two millennia.

Then we will visit the Confucius Temple, where people paid homage to Confucius during the Yuan, Ming and Qing Dynasty. A quiet complex deeply embedded with Confucian symbolism, it is the second largest temple dedicated to Confucius, a great philosopher and educationalist of ancient China. Its neighbour to the west is Beijing Imperial Academy (Guozijian), which was the highest institute of learning in Imperial China.
