Overview

Get an insight into the interesting history and culture of Jordan on this excursion to the Kerak Castle. Built by the Baudouin king of Jerusalem in 1132 A.D. the fortress is a maze of galleries, arched chambers and fortified towers overlooking the valley of Wadi Mujib below. It is an impressive example of the Crusaders' architectural and military genius. Set out on a thrilling exploration of the well-preserved underground passages and chambers.

Entrance fees to Kerak Castle are included and you have the choice to explore independently or enlist the services and knowledge of a local guide.

Itinerary

You will be picked up from your hotel in a private air-conditioned car/mini van and taken on a sightseeing tour of the Kerak Castle .

Explore the imposing fort which was built in 1132 AD on the caravan road linking Egypt to Syria by Baudouin king of Jerusalem. Kerak's most famous occupant was Reynald de Chatillon, whose reputation for treachery, betrayal and brutality is unsurpassed. The fortress is a maze of galleries, arched chambers and fortified towers overlooking the valley of Wadi Mujib below. Explore its interesting underground passages.
