Our tips for Newcastle

  • The ANZAC Memorial walk is a must-do and offers stunning views of the Pacific Ocean. It was built as a tribute to the Australian and New Zealand forces in the First World War and is based in Anzac Cove.
  • A visit to the Newcastle ocean beach and Mereweather ocean beach won’t disappoint. The beaches are picturesque and the water is perfect for a swim if you wish to avoid rough waves. 
  • The Bogey Hole is another great swimming spot in Newcastle. It’s yet another ocean bath but has a bit more of a natural vibe than the Newcastle or Mereweather bath.

The weather is lovely throughout the year. But Newcastle is at its best during the months of September to November. The flowers are in bloom the weather is a pleasant average of 17°C, and the ocean is warmer. This is ideally the best time to visit. Most locals visit Newcastle in Autumn, so it can get pretty crowded. The months of February and June see a lot of rains.
