The weather is lovely throughout the year. But Newcastle is at its best during the months of September to November. The flowers are in bloom the weather is a pleasant average of 17°C, and the ocean is warmer. This is ideally the best time to visit. Most locals visit Newcastle in Autumn, so it can get pretty crowded. The months of February and June see a lot of rains.

  • You can rent a car and drive down to Newcastle from Sydney. It is a roughly 2-hour drive. If taking a flight, the nearest airports are Sydney (SYD), Port Macquarie (PQQ), Tamworth (TMW) and Orange (OAG).
