Take a road trip to Rome from Sorrento and see the major attractions in Rome and the Vatican City.

This Rome tour gives you the freedom to explore the city and its attractions on your own. Travel in an air-conditioned coach and set off for a breathtaking drive around Rome.

A guide will be available in the coach who will provide you with a lunch pack and cater to all your queries thoughout the tour.

Don’t miss out on visiting the Colosseum, Roman Forum, Pantheon, Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps, the Vatican Museums and the Sistine Chapel as well as a host of other Rome attractions.

Itinerary

Make your way to Achille Lauro Parking Area, Correale Street, Sorrento to begin your Rome tour. From Sorrento you will travel to Castellammare via Piano di Sorrento and Meta and take the motorway to Rome. During the course of the journey, your guide will inform you about the full day’s itinerary.

The sequence of the tour is as follows:

Bus tour from Rome to the Vatican City

Upon reaching Rome, your guide will take you on a bus tour from Rome to the Vatican City and tell you about the sights that come on the way.

The Vatican City Walking Tour

In the Vatican City, your guide will take you on foot to St Peter’s Square from where you are free to explore on your own for 3 hours. Your guide will provide you with a lunch pack which you can have whenever and wherever you want.

You may take the lift and stairs to the top of the St Peter’s Basilica’s dome and enjoy breathtaking panoramic views of the Vatican City.

You may also visit the Vatican Museums and delve into one of the world’s greatest collections of art. Visit the Raphael Rooms, ancient sculpture galleries and the stunning Hellenistic Laocoon.

See Michelangelo’s frescoes in the Sistine Chapel. Every corner of the chapel is decorated; with mosaics on the floor and intricate frescoes on the wall painted by the early Renaissance artists. Feast your eyes on looking at the luminous paintings on the ceiling and behind the altar painted by Michelangelo.

Return coach to Rome

After exploring the Vatican City, you will return to Rome and enjoy an hour of leisure time to see the main highlights of the city your way. You could visit the grand Colosseum, an architectural and engineering wonder of the ancient world that bears witness to both the glory and brutality of the Roman Empire.

You could also head to Roman Forum and spot the Senate and the Temple of the Vestal Virgins. Other major Rome attractions include the Pantheon and Trevi Fountain.

Drop off at Sorrento

You will take the coach back to Sorrento with a 45-minute comfort stop on the way during which you can grab some refreshments (direct payable). You will reach Sorrento between 10pm and 11pm.
