The tour ends at the starting point.
The journey starts with a relaxed paddle through the tranquil waters of a lush mangrove forest. En route, you may spot some of the local denizens that make this special environment their home. Look out for mud lobsters, herons, harrier hawks, kingfishers, and fruit bats. As the mangrove swamp gives way to the ocean, sandy beaches beckon you to shore for a break and a delicious lunch.
After lunch, point your kayak towards the open sea and paddle across the warm clear waters of Rovodrau Bay. Enjoy glorious views of Beqa and Yanuca Islands in the distance.
Stop at a nearby reef to swim or snorkel among rainbow colored corals and shoals of tropical fish. Continuing on, your route takes you to the white sand beaches and rolling waves of Pacific Harbour and the conclusion of your journey.
There are four options for your Deuba Coastal Sea Kayak Tour, the only variation being the arrangements for getting to and from the local activity operator’s office in Pacific Harbour. The four options are:
• Nadi Area: Hotel pick up & drop-off included
• Coral Coast or Suva: Hotel pick up & drop-off included
• Intercontinental Resort: Hotel pick up & drop-off included
• Pacific Harbour: No hotel pick-up or drop-off. Make your way to the local activity operator’s office in Pacific Harbour, in the grounds of the Pearl South Pacific Resort.
At the start of the tour, you will be driven east to the inland waterway of the Deuba River. Your guides will familiarize you with your two-person kayak and paddle and give you a safety briefing before you venture onto the waterway.
The first leg of your trip takes you through a thriving mangrove forest. Look out for the local wildlife of this unique ecosystem: mud lobsters, herons, harrier hawks, kingfishers, and fruit bats.
When you reach the ocean, you will have the chance to rest on a beautiful sandy beach. Your guides prepare lunch while you enjoy a cold drink, a refreshing swim and relax in the sun.
Lunch will consist of a deli-spread of cold cuts (meats), cheeses, seasonably fresh vegetables, fruits, fresh bread and rolls, assorted cookies and other condiments. Juice and water are also available.
Afterwards, it’s time to set a course for the open sea. Leaving the mainland behind, you’ll paddle the warm, blue waters of Rovodrau Bay with dramatic views of Beqa and Yanuca Islands rising in the distance. Your guides will lead you to a nearby reef, where you can snorkel with a kaleidoscope of tropical fish among the brilliantly colored corals.
Then board your kayak for the last stage of the trip, which takes you back along the coast to Pacific Harbour.
For guests from Pacific Harbour the tour ends at the tour operator’s office. Other guests will be dropped back at their h
