Be spoilt for choice as you explore the urban and modern rhythm of Manila on this guided tour and visit iconic highlights on this guided tour. A range of destinations are queued up to let you explore Manila in great detail:
City Central Line: The Roman Forum is one of the most important public squares in the ancient city of Manila. During the Spanish colonial period, this square would host public events as well as bullfighting! Today, the square is a lush garden in the middle of which stands a statue of Charles IV built in 1824, the first person to bring a smallpox vaccine to the Philippines.
Manila Cathedral: Manila Cathedral is the main building of the Catholic Archdiocese of Manila. The original church was built in 1581. In the years to come, the church was constantly destroyed due to typhoons, earthquakes, and the flames of war. The current church is the result of the sixth construction, designed by architects Fernando Ocampo and Archbishop Rufino J Santos in the second half of the 1950s, drawing on the stone carvings and rose-shaped carved windows of the old church. The stained glass windows are adorned with skylights, and the three small churches on the side are decorated with mosaics.
City Wall: Intramuros is also known as the walled city and the iconic fixture is located in the middle of the Lisa Park and the Pasig River as the original site of Manila. In 1571, the Spanish built the castle to rule the Philippines. It is only 1 square kilometer in size and is called the “city within the city”.
St. Augustine Church: Behold the stunning architecture of the church frequented by Catholics who come here to carry out various religious activities, accept the baptism of the gods, hold sacred wedding ceremonies and more.
Casa Manila: The museum is a yellow double-storey building that passes through the gatehouse and is reminiscent of entering a whole other world! The two-storey building surrounding the square displays the typical furniture of the Philippine elite from the 19th to the 20th century, from the bedroom. The study to the kitchen, bathroom and even the stables, everything is quite interesting. To visit the museum, you need to step on the red carpet to protect the floor, so enter feeling like royalty!
The Church of Lunluo: also known as the Temple of Li Lelun, and the Church of the Virgin Mary is one of the main churches in Manila. It was built in 1596 and is most famous for its historic octagonal clock tower.
The final leg of the journey takes you to Chinatown as you enter the world of authentic Chinese treats that await in the Chinese Street Market stretching from the Carvajal Alley market to Ongpin St. Make your first stop at Santa Cruz Church in Chinatown, known locally as the White Church, opposite the Black Church. From the southeastern side of Ongpin Street, you can see a typical European-style fountain. After the church was erected in 1608 with Chinese Christian believers, the history of the building dates back to 1957, and its predecessor was destroyed in World War II. Next at the Quinta market, you will find hawkers selling fish, meat, vegetables, fruits and other local foods.
