If you wish to see the best landmarks the city of Jaipur has to offer but only have a few hours at hand then this guided expedition covers the iconic highlights. Start at The City Palace - the former Royal residence, part of it converted into a museum a small portion of which is still used by the Royal family of Jaipur.
One of the major attractions in the museum is the portion known as Armoury Museum housing an impressive array of weaponry-pistols, blunderbusses, flintlocks, swords, rifles and daggers that were once used by the Royal family! After a proper introduction to the rich heritage of Jaipur and its royalty, it is soon time to drive past Hawa Mahal, the most famous landmark of Jaipur. Be sure to take a photo of its beautiful sandstone screens!
The final leg of the tour brings you to The Observatory, the largest stone observatory in the world built by Sawai Jai Singh, the founder of five observatories in India who was a great admirer of developments in science and technology. The Observatory is a great place for curious young ones and even those young at heart.
