A journey into the fascinating Vietnamese cultural history, this full day tour of Hue is your gateway to the city’s royal past and its marvellous heritage.
Start your Hue city tour with a visit into the streets and wander over to the Citadel. It's within these two metre-thick and 10 kilometre-long walls that you'll find several of the city's best sites, from the many ornate pagodas to the Forbidden Purple City. Afterward, stop at a local tea house to taste some of the best Vietnamese flavoured green teas served with some authentic snacks such as sweetened lotus seeds and green bean cake.
Having gained insight into this regal past, you will head out for lunch at a local pagoda - an immersive experience that gives you a chance to connect with monks, learn about their lives and also the nuances of Buddhism. You will also make a stop at Vong Canh Hill, home to the remains of American bunkers to take photos before continuing on to one of the impressive emperor's tombs, Tu Duc Tomb.
Next up is a trip to the opulent Thien Mu Pagoda, also known as the Pagoda of the Celestial Lady, which is synonymous with the city of Hue thanks to its towering seven-story pagoda. Built by the Nguy?n kings, the sprawling complex is perched atop the Hà Khê hill and overlooks the Perfume River. Once you have savoured the beauty of its incredible architecture, you will proceed to the outstanding Tiger Arena which used to host tiger-elephant duels for royal entertainment.
To seal off the tour on a perfectly serene note, we will treat you to a relaxing cruise on the Perfume River. Sit back and reminisce over your day’s exploration as you feast your eyes on the gorgeous surroundings before heading back to your hotel.

The confirmation voucher includes the local activity operator’s contact details. They’re a nice bunch, and will happily answer any logistical questions you may have. Please give them a call at least 24 hours before your organised activity to reconfirm.
We believe time is money! Show the local guide your voucher and you’ll be all set to go!
If you have your voucher, your booking is confirmed.
We allow a maximum of 12 people on this tour to make it more of an intimate experience. Nobody wants a crowd, you know!
While packing for your vacation in Vietnam, please remember that dressing standards are quite conservative throughout the country. Please make sure that your shoulders and knees are covered at all times.
Unfortunately, the Vietnamese authorities close sites temporarily from time to time, sometimes with very little (if any) notice which might lead to alternate arrangements being made for the tours affected at late notice.
This activity is adults (and older children) only. Little ones under the age of 6 years will have to sit this one out, we’re afraid.
If you are coming with your child aged 6 - 11, please remember to specifically mention ‘child’ while booking the tour.
If you are happy with the services provided by your local guides, a tip - though not compulsory - is appropriate. While it may not be customary to you, it is of great significance to the people who will take care of you during your travels, inspires excellent service, and is an entrenched feature of the tourism industry across destinations. After all, everyone deserves a small token of appreciation, are we right? Please consider this when budgeting for your extra expenses on this tour.
