Overview

Australia never fails to impress anyone, throwing up a myriad of activities to keep travellers on their toes. This Grand Hobart tour does just that and more, bringing you a journey that takes you up the summit of kunanyi / Mt Wellington, on a trail through Richmond - one of the most original historic villages in the country, and on a coach tram tour around the city.

Here what this full day tour has in store for you!

Mt Wellington - traditionally called kunanyi in the indigenous Palawa Kani language

  • Pass through various ecosystems, feeling up the harsh alpine environment of the mountain.

  • Witness a panoramic spectacle of Hobart town, its surrounding suburbs and vast waterways of the Derwent River from the summit

  • See St David’s Park and the massive rock formation of the Organ Pipes as well as pass by Anglesea Barracks - Australia’s oldest Army facility

  • Head to Cascade Valley, take a walk if you want around the stunning surroundings and admire the Cascade Brewery from the outside

  • Take a stroll through the Cascade Gardens and drop by at the Cascades Female Factory, formerly a female prison and featured in Bryce Courtenay's The Potato Factory, where you can get an insight into the lives of women convicts

City Coach Tram Tour

  • See Sullivans Cove which is the birthplace Hobart and currently houses the city’s ferry terminal, as well as a selection of the best highlights in the city, especially the Parliament House.

  • Check out the charming Salamanca Place where Georgian style warehouses have now been restored as restaurants, galleries and pubs

  • Get a peek of South Hobart at the foot of Mt. Wellington

  • Relax with some free time while rambling around at the exquisite Royal Tasmanian Botanical Gardens

Richmond - one of Australia’s most unique and historic towns dating from the 1820s

  • Head out along the Brooker Highway while passing North Hobart and New Town

  • Take a stroll across the Richmond Bridge, introducing yourself to the local ducks as they forage for food under the oldest convict built road bridge in Australia

  • See the Derwent Entertainment Centre and the Richmond Gaol too, perhaps, which has been operational from 1826

  • Check out the oldest operating Catholic Church in the area

  • Sample some incredible wines and local produce from the Coal Valley region, if you want (at your own expense), or head out shopping, take some time out to relax, or just explore the village and its quaint cottages - all at your own pace
