The Grand Canyon Railroad is a heritage railroad that began conveying visitors into the heart of the Canyon in 1901. It fell into disrepair in the late 1960s, but it’s been lovingly restored to capture the vintage feel of early American locomotives.
Pass through stunningly diverse landscapes of thirsty stone and lush forest while you listen to the harmonies of roving musicians in your train car.
Enjoy a bus tour of the Grand Canyon and plenty of free time to explore this surreal sculpture garden of stone, which recedes into infinity in all directions.
You will be picked up by air-conditioned coach (vans will be used for smaller groups) from your Flagstaff hotel for this Grand Canyon Railroad excursion. You will be accompanied by an English-speaking guide that knows the area well.
Take a scenic 30-minute drive from Flagstaff to Williams, where you’ll board the historic Grand Canyon Railway.
Each car of this Arizona railroad - which made its maiden voyage in 1901 - has been restored to its original state, and the crew members all have anecdotes to share about the train and its many journeys.
Travel through open plains with mountain views and past crystal lakes embroidered with pine forests while enjoying the melodies of strolling musicians.
Ride the train to the South Rim of the Grand Canyon, where you'll tuck into a delicious lunch (payable direct) and take a 1.5-hour bus tour to several fantastic overlooks.
Spend the rest of the afternoon at your leisure in this natural wonderland, which stretches for 277 miles, reaches a depth of nearly a mile, and showcases some 2 billion years of geological history.
The stones and sand in the Grand Canyon give off brown, yellow, and red hues that are amplified by a striking blue sky and wayward tufts of clouds. The landscape is otherworldly, like the surface of some distant planet waiting to be discovered.
You will be returned to your Flagstaff hotel at tour’s end.
