Activity Overview

Often compared to the iconic Palace of Versailles, Gödöllo Royal Palace is the second largest baroque chateau of the world and the former summer residence of Princess Sisi. Explore the stunning architecture and beautiful grounds that was offered to Elisabeth, Empress of Austria and Queen of Hungary, when she was crowned Queen of Hungary in 1867. Since then, the palace became her principal royal summer residence.

Learn about the curious lives of Empress Elisabeth of Austria and her husband Emperor Franz Joseph I, King of Hungary between 1867 and 1916, the couple’s secret love affairs, and the hidden passages and doors throughout the residence.

Walk through the hallways, the staircases and the park of this amazing baroque building and enjoy a glimpse of times under the Austro-Hungarian Empire.
