Itinerary

Ngilgi Semi Guided Show Cave Tour – from Margaret River allows you to explore this exciting Cave complex at your own pace. There is no hotel pick-up for this tour. Please make your own way to the meeting point at the Ngilgi Cave ticket office. Ngilgi Cave is located 5 minutes drive from Yallingup, 10 minutes drive from Dunsborough, 30 minutes drive from Busselton and approximately 30 minutes drive from Margaret River town.

The Ngilgi Cave is at least 500,000 years old and lies beneath the limestone ridge which forms Cape Naturaliste near the town of Yallingup at the northern end of the Margaret River region.

The Cave is named because of its association with an Aboriginal legend describing the battle between a good spirit (Ngilgi) and an evil spirit (Wolgine). With its dazzling display of stalactites, stalagmites, columns and shawl formations, Ngilgi has been a major tourist attraction ever since it was brought to public attention by Edward Dawson in 1899.

This 1-hour walking tour allows you to enjoy the ancient wonders of Ngilgi Cave in your own way. Semi-guided tours of the main Show Cave are conducted every 30 minutes throughout the day. Your tour guide will meet you at a covered outdoor-interpretive area and provide you with an interesting overview of the caves in the region. Your guide will then escort you into the Cave and answer your questions before leaving you to explore Ngilgi. Upon entering the Main Chamber you will find another guide ready to answer your queries and tell you more about how the amazing rock sculptures were formed over millennia.
