Overview

Bringing together two of the most iconic sights in Greece, this tour will take you on a dive right into the glorious Classical Era. A journey through the magnificent citadel of Acropolis and the spectacular Temple of Poseidon in Cape Sounio, the tour will get you up close and personal with not just country’s illustrious history but also its fabulous mythology.

Your encounter with the past begins even before we reach the fabled Acropolis, with a stop at the historic Panathenaic Stadium where the first modern day Olympics were held in 1896. Moving ahead, our drive through the heart of the city will allow you to catch sight of some of the biggest attractions of Athens (better get your bucket lists ready, eh!) such as the Zappeion or National Gardens of Athens, the Temple of Olympian Zeus or Olympieion, Hadrian’s Arch, St. Paul’s Church, Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, Numismatic Museum, Old Parliament, Syntagma Square and of course, the Athens Trilogy of National Library, University and Academy of Athens.

By the time you would have soaked in Athens’ magnetic vibrancy, we will bring you to the stunning UNESCO World Heritage Site, Acropolis, dating back to the 13th Century BC. As our guide regales you with historical titbits and exclusive anecdotes, savour the various monuments in the compound including the famed Theatre of Dionysus, the ravishing Parthenon as well as the alluring Temple of Athena Nike. Sink further into the awe-inspiring world of the Acropolis as we head to the Museum where you can treat yourself to archaeological remains of the site including votive, statues, Caryatids and more. It’s a charming world impressive human achievements, to say the least.

Our second encounter for the day allows us to make a stop at the gorgeous coast of Cape Sounion. It is steeped in history, classical literature as well as venerated mythologies with first mentions of the place dating back to Homer’s Odyssey. The cultural and religious significance of Poseidon, the political ideologies of one of the greatest civilisations ever, the dazzling grandeur of the architecture - the Temple of Poseidon is a fervent brew of awe-inspiring sensations. Hugely popular with celebrities as well as anyone basically who loves to travel, the towering elegance of the remains has inspired the likes of Romantic Poet Lord Byron. A reinvigorating walk through the site with a sensational sunset at the backdrop - you couldn’t ask for a better ending to a day in the magical city of Athens!
