Enjoy a wildlife adventure when you take the San Diego Zoo from Los Angeles excursion. At the start of your trip you will be picked up from your hotel in an air-conditioned coach. The journey to San Diego takes around 60-90 minutes depending on the traffic.
The renowned San Diego Zoo is one of the largest and most progressive zoos in the world. With more than 4,000 animals representing 800 species, it’s home to a diverse collection of animals, many of which are seldom seen at other zoos.
The Zoo has beautifully laid out botanical gardens and a 3-mile safari, plus many special attractions. For those traveling with kids, the Zoo offers a complete entertainment at its one-of-its-kind Children’s Zoo. Meet the Critters, Zoo games and much more awaits the little ones.
Some Zoo highlights include the following:
Absolutely Apes: Orangutans and siamangs delight visitors with their colorful personalities and intriguing vocalizations. This enclosure provides lush, naturalistic environment where these arboreal apes can climb, swing, and live in the same kind of terrain as they would in the wild.
Elephant Odyssey: Meet elephants and their prehistoric ancestors in this cutting-edge exhibit.
Giant Panda Research Station: See these enchanting black-and-white bamboo-guzzling bears in their luxurious enclosure. The San Diego Zoo has the largest number of giant pandas of any Zoo in the United States. A panda narrator is at the panda's main viewing area daily to share the latest news and to answer guests' questions about the ‘bamboo bears’.
Ituri Forest: A miniature African Rain Forest where you can watch frolicking swamp monkeys and come eye-to-nostril with hippos soaking in a state-of-the-art-pool. You may also see okapis, buffalos and lots of colorful birds.
Reptile House: A stroll around the perimeter allows you to safely view an amazing collection of pythons, cobras, boas, tortoises, rattlesnakes, and Gila monsters up close.
Tiger River: Stroll along a riverbed pathway that leads to a tiger's lair, a crocodilian pool, a fishing cat's den, and a marsh complete with cattails, fallen trees, and wafting mists. Enjoy the cooling shade from towering palms, coral and orchid trees, ferns, figs, bamboos, and gingers. Mesmerizing and gorgeous but also endangered, the tigers are a delight to watch.
Guided Bus Tour: This 35-minute tour by double-decker bus covers 75 per cent of San Diego Zoo.
Express Bus: This allows you to hop on and hop off at three different stops throughout the Zoo.
Skyfari Aerial Tram: An airborne shortcut over the treetops to the other end of the Zoo with spectacular views
