You will be picked up from your Las Vegas hotel in an air-conditioned vehicle and taken to your luxury Jeep for this Eldorado Canyon excursion. You will be accompanied by an English-speaking guide.
Just 45 minutes removed from the cosmopolitan glamour of Las Vegas is Eldorado Canyon, home to one of the largest gold claims in the history of the Old West.
Along the way, you’ll enjoy spectacular views of sweeping desert plains, outcroppings of teddy bear cholla, and rare geological formations. Make a photo stop near the banks of Lake Mojave, a shimmering blue jewel in the middle of a thirsty expanse.
Arrive at Eldorado Canyon. You’ll have more than two hours to explore this fascinating historical site, where veins of gold once ran deep below the burnt umber hills.
Prospectors first began sluicing the streams here in 1850 and within a decade the area was flooded with miners, many of them Civil War deserters.
Visit what’s left of the Techatticup Mine, which yielded untold millions in gold deposits from a series of a dozen tunnels, the deepest of which penetrated more than 500 feet below the ground.
Hear stories of labor disputes and bloody feuds over ownership, which escalated to such a degree that lawmen refused to enter the town.
You will be dropped back at your hotel at tour’s end.
