If you’ve ever marveled at how civilizations can thrive in a desert, this is the perfect tour for you! You’ll visit Al Ain, an oasis and former caravan stop that is only 75 miles from Dubai. Its desert air makes it a welcome respite from the humidity of the coastal cities of the UAE.
You’ll learn how Al Ain has been inhabited for over 4,000 years. At the Hili Graves, a Mesopotamian burial site, you’ll see the "beehive" tombs. Nearby, you’ll see how the falaj immigration system, which uses boreholes, is used to water farms and palm trees.
Watch wily livestock traders haggle over camels, goats and sheep at the camel market. Perfect photo opportunities await you here but do ask for permission before you take someone’s picture.
At the Sheikh Zayed Palace Museum, you’ll tour the private rooms and gardens once occupied by the founder of the UAE.
At the summit of Jebel Hafeet, the second highest mountain in the UAE, you’ll enjoy splendid views of the desert spread out below you.

The memorable A Day in Al Ain – Tour from Dubai experience gives you a taste of the fascinating oasis of Al Ain, a former caravan stop built on a huge fertile plain.
The adventure begins when you are picked up at your hotel in Dubai, by air-conditioned coach.
You will be driven to the charming desert oasis town of Al Ain, also known as“The Garden City”. Al Ain (literally, The Spring) offers life-saving resources in the middle of the desert. As it is blessed with substantial underground water resources; it is also an extremely fertile region, rich in greenery with numerous farms, public parks and important archeological sites.
Your first stop is at the Al Ain Museum with its adjoining fortress. The museum offers a good insight into the Bedouin lifestyle and local culture. It also has exhibits from the 5,000-year-old Mesopotamian burial site located nearby, called the Hili Graves , with their distinctive beehive tombs. Just a few minutes away from this historical site, date gardens are being watered by the 2,000-year-old falaj irrigation system. This underground system uses boreholes.
We continue our journey to the Al Ain Palace Museum, which was the residence of Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahayan, the late ruler of the UAE from 1927 until the early 1970s. Your next destination is the colorful camel market, which is the biggest in the region. This is the last souk of its kind in the UAE and gives you the perfect opportunity to see camels up close.
From here you head to the apex of Jebel Hafeet (Mount Hafeet). This mountain of craggy limestone is the second highest in the UAE. At the summit, approximately 4200 feet high, you’ll have breathtaking views of the extensive desert below. Here you have the opportunity to take photographs before stopping for lunch (payable direct) in the Mercure Hotel at the peak of the mountain.
After lunch, you’ll return via air conditioned coach to your hotel in Dubai.
Very informative guide and tour. Could have done without market stop and had longer in Al Ain. Driver was a bit gungho!!...William G R Alcock
Hat uns sehr gut gefallen. Vor allem unser deutscher Touristenguide war wirklich toll (leider wissen wir seinen Namen nicht mehr), man konnte ihn einfach alles fragen :-)!...Daniela Öhlschuster
A good tour, well organized, good multilingual guide. But... the road to Al Ain is a 3 lane motorway with protective bushes around, so you don't get the same desert experience...JAN SLIWA
