This trip is an absolute must for keen big game fishermen on vacation in Phuket.

It takes you to the famed fishing grounds around Racha Yai island, near Phuket, where the sparkling seas are home to sail fish, dorado, tuna, mackerel, barracuda and marlin in season.

The waters around Phuket are renowned for sailfish – the sea’s fastest fish and a spectacular fighter. Sailfish around Phuket average 60 pounds and huge numbers of them can often be seen jumping in the afternoon around Racha Yai island.

Lunch is included and you will enjoy first-class service aboard the fishing boat. You will also have the chance to snorkel among colorful corals in the warm clear waters off Racha Yai island.

The experienced captain and crew will make every effort to help you to catch the fish of your dreams. Make sure you have your camera with you to record the moment!

Itinerary

For your exciting Racha Yai Island Big Game Fishing & Snorkeling from Phuket adventure you will be picked up from your hotel in an air-conditioned minivan at around 0800h (08:00am).

You will travel to meet your guide at Chalong Pier and will be escorted to your boat. Head off to Racha Yai Island, which lies about 24 km (approximately 14 miles) to the south-east. Racha Yai is renowned for its crystal clear sea, white powder sand, snorkeling, diving and big fishing.

When you reach the best fishing grounds, your captain will hunt for sail fish, dorado, tuna, mackerel, barracuda and marlin in season.

One of the most exciting fish found in the area is the sailfish, indeed Phuket is known as the "Sailfish Capital of Asia", and with good reason. These great fighting fish are available all year round in Phuket waters. Light tackle game fishing for sailfish in Phuket is an exciting experience. Slow trolling with live bait and trolling with tuna belly strips is the common technique here for catching sailfish.

You will be served a Thai-style lunch on board your boat at Racha Yai after which you will have time to enjoy the fantastic snorkeling in the crystal clear waters around the island.

Afternoon fishing is by hand line depending on tide and conditions. You will also enjoy an afternoon trolling session, particularly targeting sailfish, before heading back to Chalong Pier.

You will reach Chalong Pier at around 1630h (04:30pm) and will be driven back to your hotel in Phuket.
