Take a tour of the charming seaside town of Hermanus and spend the day whale watching on this South African excursion. Begin the tour with a drive along a winding mountainous road and you will be delighted by panoramic views of the region. Nestled between towering mountains and the sea below, Hermanus will charm you at the first glance.

Customer reviews

The trip to Hermanus is a great way to experience that part of the Cape. The scenery is spectacular. The whales were elusive, but we did spot a couple on the way. Our driver...

Itinerary

In the morning, you will be picked up in an air-conditioned coach from your hotel in central Cape Town and taken on a tour of Hermanus. There will be commentary in English in the coach.

Travel on the coastal road to Hermanus. This town, nestled between mountains and the sea is not only very beautiful but offers some of the best shore based whale watching opportunities in the world (August – November). Close sightings of the Southern Right whale are likely.

On the return journey we follow the coastline with the possibility of further sightings of whales (and even the possibility of sighting dolphins). A stop is made at Stoney Point, near Betty’s Bay to have a look at the penguins (optional, for own account & time permitting) and a wine tasting will be enjoyed before returning to Cape Town in the afternoon.
