In the morning, you will be picked up in an air-conditioned coach from your hotel in central Cape Town and shown the highlights of Cape Peninsula and winelands. There will be commentary in English in the coach.
Stretching 75 kilometres into the Atlantic Ocean, the beautiful scenery of Cape Peninsula was once part of an isolated island, but with the formation of the Cape Flats it now forms a part of Cape Town. You will be taken to the following sites:
• Hout Bay: It is one of the most beautiful and popular places on the Cape Peninsula. The access road that runs from Camps Bay, offers a beautiful drive along the sea. It is the centre of the crayfish and snoek fishing industry.
• Chapman’s Peak: The Chapman’s Peak drive is one of the most scenic routes in the world. This 9-kilometre route along the Atlantic Coast has 114 curves skirting the Chapman’s Peak and follows the rocky coastline to unfold stunning views in both directions.
• Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve: At the park, you will come across a variety of fynbos (it is the name given to the vegetation in the reserve). This includes 30 endangered plant species and 10 unique to the reserve.
• Cape Point: It is a promontory in the south-east corner of the Cape Peninsula. Enjoy the beauty of this mountainous and very scenic landform that runs north-south for about 30 kilometres to the extreme south western tip of the African continent.
• Simon’s Town: It is a pretty little seaside town rich in historical significance. After being taken over by the British in 1806, the town became a base of the Royal Navy. You will come across Victorian and Cape Dutch houses around the town. The restaurants and coffee shops on the Main Road offer spectacular views of the harbour, and is a great way to spend some time. See a colony of penguins at the Boulders Beach (optional, own account & time permitting visit).
• Fish Hoek: Along the False Bay coastal road to Simon’s Town lies the quaint town of Fish Hoek. Its long beach is ideal for sun bathing and watch windsurfers take to the waves. Huge schools of dolphins are also sometimes seen.
• Muizenberg: It is a beachside resort of Cape Town and is situated where the shore of the Cape Peninsula curves round to the east on the False Bay coast. It is considered to be the birthplace of surfing in South Africa.
• Stellenbosch winelands: Considered to be the true heart of the Cape winelands and the second oldest town in South Africa, Stellenbosch offers the best in wines. It has plenty of wine cellars and farms where you can sample some fine wines (1 wine tasting included in the package). You will come across old Cape Dutch houses, oak-tree lined streets and gorgeous scenery through out this beautiful little town.
After wine tasting, you will be dropped back to your hotel in central Cape Town.
