Meet the tour representative at St Peter’s Train Station, located in Piazza della Stazione San Pietro at platform number 1. You will depart from St Peter’s Train Station in Rome at 11:08am and arrive at Castel Gandolfo Train Station at 12:10pm. Enjoy the breath-taking scenic views of the Roman countryside’s rolling hills en-route to Castel Gandolfo.
Once at Castel Gandolfo, soak in the placid beauty of the Lake Albano before beginning a guided audio tour of the 17th-century Apostolic Palace at 12:30pm. The Apostolic Palace is the seat of the Catholic Church where the Pope enjoys vacations and has leisure time. Skip the lines and enjoy an extensive audio-guided tour of the palace and the Pontifical Villas, listen to the commentary and learn about how different popes used the facilities throughout the years.
Although situated within Castel Gandolfo, Apostolic Palace is afforded extraterritorial status as one of the properties of the Holy See and is not under the jurisdiction of Castel Gandolfo or Italy. After the tour, enjoy the rest of the day at leisure and explore Castel Gandolfo on your own.
After the tour, you are free to have lunch and explore the town of Castel Gandolfo on your own. You will depart from the Castel Gandolfo station at 5:24pm and reach St Peter’s station at 6:30pm.
