Overview

Enjoy a double dose of incredible delights at the magical cities of Toledo and Segovia. Retaining the charm of old Spanish cities, these two UNESCO World Heritage Sites are steeped in a riveting cultural heritage. This full day tour of Segovia and Toledo, with a comfortable ride to and from Madrid, will leave you mesmerised with the eventful history of Spain and the Iberian Peninsula as you weave your way through the magnificent monuments and ancient buildings.

Our first stop is the stunning city of Segovia, the origin of which can be back in mythology either to Hercules or the son of Noah. Home to the spectacular Roman Aqueduct, the city presents a fantastic vista of vintage charms. The Aqueduct is a product of Roman engineering genius and the soaring structure is sure to leave you breathless as you pass it. But hold on because the Alcázar of Segovia will just sweep you off your feet. A guided tour of this restored 12th century castle will make you marvel at its impeccable Mudéjar and Herrerian architecture. Set against the striking Sierra de Guadarrama, the beauty of this remarkable castle has inspired many, including Walt Disney’s model of Sleeping Beauty’s castle.

Having soaked in the idyllic aura of Segovia, we will head for the magnetic Toledo - synonymous with King Charles I, Cervantes’ Don Quixote, and the legendary El Greco. Nicknamed the ‘City of the Three Cultures’, the city paints a sublime picture of harmony between the Jewish, Christian and Muslim communities dating back to archaic times. Waiting to blow you mind, however, is the Primate Cathedral of Saint Mary of Toledo, or simply the Toledo Cathedral. Built on the site of an ancient mosque, the Catholic cathedral is considered by many as a ‘magnum opus of Gothic architecture in Spain’.

The full day tour is dotted with an captivating expedition through two of the most interesting places in Spain, making for a bucket list worthy spot on your itinerary - all the more reason that you just cannot give this tour a miss!
