Itinerary

This tour enables you to skip queues to enter the Vatican Museums. The tour is done in a group of no more than 20 people so that your guide can personally cater to you and make your visit to Vatican City a special and unforgettable experience.

Your Vatican tour starts in the Vatican Museums which house over 14 kilometres of the most extensive collection of art in the world. Your guide will lead you through the 2000 rooms that stretch along this 14 kilometres. Hear stories and secrets contained within the Museum’s walls and pleasures originally meant for the exclusive enjoyment of the Pope.

Continue to see see Michelangelo’s famous ‘Creation of Adam’, a fresco on the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel. The painting illustrates the Biblical story from the Book of Genesis in which God the Father breathes life into Adam, the first man.

Visit Saint Peter’s Basilica that houses another of Michelangelo’s masterpieces, La Pieta. Also see the beautiful Saint Peter’s Square, as your guide points out famous Italian sculptor and architect, Bernini’s ingenious use of optical illusion.

After exploring the interesting art exhibits at the Museums, the tour ends near the Basilica of St. Peter’s in the Vatican.

A special dress code is required to enter the Vatican Museums and Saint Peter’s Basilica. Knees and shoulders must be covered for both men and women. This dress code is strictly enforced and you will be refused entry if you fail to comply with dress code requirements.

Clients must arrive at the designated meeting point 15 minutes prior to the scheduled tour time and present their tour voucher to the tour coordinator/guide.

You can easily recognise the tour coordinator/guide, wearing Dark Rome/ Guideman branded blue jacket/ Polo shirts.

Proof of age required on the day of the tour for those paying child rates.

If you are interested in booking the tour on a Wednesday there is a possibility of St. Peter’s Basilica and St. Peter’s Square not being a part of your itinerary. This is due to the weekly Papal Audience during which access to St. Peter’s Basilica may be blocked. As an alternative, you are offered an extended itinerary within the Vatican Museums, which still includes the Sistine Chapel and Raphael’s Rooms.

Meeting point
The tour starts from the foot of the steps across the street from the entrance of the Vatican Museums. The steps are located right next to ‘Caffe Vaticano’ which is on the corner of Via Tunisi and Viale Vaticano (the closest metro stop is Line A (Cipro – Musei Vaticani).
Please report at the meeting point 15 minutes before the start time. This is mandatory to allow time for pre-departure briefing.
Ending point
The tour ends near the Basilica of St. Peter’s in the Vatican.
