Get a bird’s eye view of the beautiful city of Avignon and see some of its famous historical landmarks from an aircraft. This 30-minute flight gives you a chance to discover Provence like you’ve never seen before. It would take days to drive to all the historic sites, but you can see them all in one afternoon! Avignon’s clear skies and suitable weather conditions offer ample photo opportunities to capture the laid-back charm of southern France.

See the 2000-year-old Roman aqueduct of Pont du Gard, the pretty village of Saint Remy where Van Gogh painted ‘Starry Night’ and Roussillon - one of France’s most beautiful villages. Fly over the hilltop village of Gordes and see a spattering of white stone houses.

After the flight, drive through the biggest gothic palace of Europe, see Pope’s City with its medieval walls and take in a panoramic view of Avignon from La Barthelasse island.

Itinerary

You will be picked up in an air-conditioned minibus from your hotel in Avignon. Accompanied by an English-speaking driver-cum-guide, you will be taken to the Avignon airport for a 30-minute flight to discover Provence from the air. Avignon’s weather offers crystal clear skies most of the year for smooth, safe flights and great photo opportunities.

You will board a 4 seater aircraft (pilot plus 3 passengers): Cessna C182, C172 or Piper PA28. A running commentary will be provided by your pilot during the flight through personal headsets in English, French or German. You can choose from the following 4 flights:

• Pont du Gard to Alpilles: You will see Saint Remy de Provence, Les Alpilles, Les Baux-de-Provence, Tarascon, Beaucaire, Le Pont-du-Gard and Avignon.

• Arles via les Baux de Povence: Saint-Rémy-de-Provence, Alpilles hill range, Les Baux-de-Provence, Daudet's mill, Montmajour abbey, Arles, Tarascon and Avignon.

• Around the Dentelles de Montmirail: Vacqueyras, Gigondas, Sablet, Séguret, Vaison-la-Romaine, Mont Ventoux, Le Barroux and Carpentras.

• Over Luberon: L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue, Fontaine-de-Vaucluse, Senanque abbey, Gordes, Roussillon, Bonnieux, Lacoste, Ménerbes, Oppède-le-vieux and Cavaillon.

After landing at the airport, you will be driven around the city to enjoy the best panoramic view of Avignon from the Island of La Barthelasse and take a memorable picture of the Popes' City with its medieval walls, its Pont d'Avignon and the breathtaking Popes' Palace, the biggest gothic palace in all of Europe.

After a memorable scenic tour, you will be dropped back to your hotel in Avignon.
