  • Overview & Itinerary

Explore the other side of Dubai, across the Dubai Creek and see the ports, heritage villages and souks.

A guide will take you to the traditional souks selling gold, spices and textiles of Bur Dubai where you can pick up some great bargains. Take a water taxi to the historic quarter of Dubai and wander the lanes of Bastakiya Quarter and savour a traditional Arabic mandi, just the way the locals do – with your hands!

During the course of the tour you will learn about pearl hunting, the gold trade and sweet making.

The tour will show you how the old and new blends together and gives Dubai its vibrant character. Enjoy a ride on the longest driverless metro line to the Dubai Mall where you will sip Arabic coffee and indulge into cheesy kunafa.

Meet your English speaking guide at Al Ras metro station by the ticket office. Your guide will take you to Deira, one of the oldest parts of Dubai.

At Deira, you will visit the Women’s Museum where local women will give you an introduction to the local culture and traditions, and the role of women in Dubai and the UAE. Enjoy a refreshing cup of Arabic coffee, finjan, along with dates as you continue your interaction with the women in the museum.

Next, your guide will escort you to the Gold and Spice Souk that presents a unique combination of the old style bazaars and modern markets. Browse shops for great bargains on gold jewellery and local spices. At the Spice Souk, take in the aroma of spices and incense burning as you pick souvenirs to take back home.

Moving forward, hop on a water taxi, locally called an abra to cross the Dubai Creek. See the amazing waterside with impressive buildings that have sprung up along the creek.

Get off the abra at Bur Dubai and head to the Textile Souk. Skim through a range of raw silk, pashmina, cotton and embroidered fabrics in the shops lining both sides of the street leading to the Bastakia quarter, the first settlement in Dubai. Walk along the dun-coloured by-lanes and observe the wind-tower building. Your guide will acquaint you with the history of the neighbourhood that has retained the fishing village architecture of traditional Dubai.

Next, sample a traditional Arabic mandi, prepared with rice, tender meat and spices at a local restaurant. Dig into the delicacy as the locals do as you sit in groups and eat with your hands.

Then, hop on the longest driverless metro train and travel to the main city to reach your last destination on the tour, the Dubai Mall. At the mall, your guide will take you to a sweet shop where you will savour traditional sweetmeats like kunafa and Arabic coffee while staring in awe at the Burj Khalifa.

Your tour concludes at Dubai Mall, after which you are free to explore on your own.
