Overview
Prague Castle is the city’s most famous landmark with a fascinating history spanning hundreds of years. While many Prague tours just show you the castle from the outside this tour will take you inside for an in-depth look at this incredible building. Czech kings, Holy Roman Emperors, leaders of Czechoslovakia and Presidents of the Czech Republic have all had their offices at Prague Castle and it serves as the storehouse for the Czech Crown Jewels.
Explore highlights such as the Royal Palace, St Vitus Cathedral, and St George’s Basilica. The city’s defining landmark rebuilt numerous times in its 1100-year history, it has endured fires, invasions, and World Wars, and is a living legend of Prague. In its current form, it is a Baroque masterpiece that will leave you with no shortage of marvelous photo opportunities.
Visit the Royal Palace, originally a Romanesque structure that was reborn in the Gothic style under Charles IV. See St. Vitus Cathedral, the Gothic masterpiece, and tour St. George’s Basilica, the best-preserved Romanesque church in Prague, adorned with gorgeous altar paintings and dome frescoes. Pass by the miniature houses of Golden Lane, and leave the castle to explore the Lesser Town, where government buildings and restaurants are interspersed with historical churches and palaces.
Make your way to Charles Bridge. Completed in 1400, this stone overpass spans the Vltava River and affords magnificent views of the castle. Your tour concludes at Charles Bridge.
