Cross over to Phillip Island by a bridge from San Remo and continue to the Australian Wildlife Park. Covering 60 acres, the park is home to more than 60 types of Australian ani-mals. here you can experience really close encounters with wildlife.
Hand feed and pat kangaroos and wallabies like the red kangaroo, the parma wallaby and the red-necked pademelon. See kangaroos with joeys all year round. View koalas close up from a raised board walk. Marvel at the large size of the flightless birds like the emu and the cassowary and see colorful parrots, cockatoos and birds of prey.
Next you’ll either stop at Phillip Island’s famous Chocolate Factory to pick up some sweet treats, or head to Wollamai Beach, the longest and most exposed beach on the Island.
You’ll also spend time at the magnificent headland of The Nobbies, where the views seem to stretch forever. Stroll along the boardwalks and learn more about the natural history of the area at the information center.
One and a half kilometres offshore from The Nobbies are Seal Rocks, home to Australia’s largest Australian fur seal colony. Special observation cameras allow you to watch the seals at play. This part of the Island also has an awesome blowhole – a spectacular sea cave that thun-ders during big southern swells.
Your last stop is at Summerland beach, home to Victoria’s largest colony of Little Penguins. Each night these endearing birds – the world’s smallest penguins – toddle ashore to the safety of their burrows after their daily fishing expedition. The sunset Penguin Parade is one of Australia’s most popular attractions. This experience is sure to be the highlight of your visit.
