The Phillip Island Penguin Parade & Wildlife Tour is an action-packed adventure that kicks off when you are picked up from your hotel or from St Paul’s Cathedral, Melbourne.
Traveling in a comfortable coach you will head out to Phillip Island which lies 140km (86 miles) south-east of Melbourne. On the way you’ll see beautiful coastal views, and stop to enjoy complimentary morning tea.
Cross over to Phillip Island by a bridge from San Remo and continue to the Australian Wildlife Park. Covering 60 acres, the park is home to more than 60 types of Australian animals. here you can experience really close encounters with wildlife.
Hand feed and pat kangaroos and wallabies like the red kangaroo, the parma wallaby and the red-necked pademelon. See kangaroos with joeys all year round. View koalas close up from a raised board walk. Marvel at the large size of the flightless birds like the emu and the cassowary and see colorful parrots, cockatoos and birds of prey.
Next you’ll either stop at Phillip Island’s famous Chocolate Factory to pick up some sweet treats, or head to Wollamai Beach, the longest and most exposed beach on the Island.
You’ll also spend time at the magnificent headland of The Nobbies, where the views seem to stretch forever. Stroll along the boardwalks and learn more about the natural history of the area at the information center.
One and a half kilometres offshore from The Nobbies are Seal Rocks, home to Australia’s largest Australian fur seal colony. Special observation cameras allow you to watch the seals at play. This part of the Island also has an awesome blowhole – a spectacular sea cave that thunders during big southern swells.
Your last stop is at Summerland beach, home to Victoria’s largest colony of Little Penguins. Each night these endearing birds – the world’s smallest penguins – toddle ashore to the safety of their burrows after their daily fishing expedition. The sunset Penguin Parade is one of Australia’s most popular attractions. This experience is sure to be the highlight of your visit.
The package includes a free pizza dinner in summer or a tasty lunch in winter. In summer the tour ends around midnight. In winter it ends around 2100h (9:00pm)At the end of the excursion, you will be dropped back at your hotel in Melbourne or at St Pauls Cathedral, Melbourne.
