You will pass:

Fisherman’s Wharf:This wharf is most famous for its stretch of seafood shacks that serve up legendary Dungeness crab and hearty clam chowder (payable direct).

Downtown Union Square: The centerpiece of San Francisco’s cosmopolitan downtown area, Union Square is heaven for the shopper at heart, with an impressive collection of department stores, up-scale boutiques, local trinket shops, and salons.

Ghirardelli Square: 40 specialty shops and restaurants, in addition to the famous Ghiradelli Soda Fountain & Chocolate Shop, make this square a great place to get lost.

Chinatown: Dating from the 1850s, when Chinese immigrants flocked to the gold coast to work on the Transcontinental Railroad or strike it rich as prospectors, San Francisco’s Chinatown is the oldest in the United States.

Pier 39: Tour the pier’s varied shops or snap a picture of the seals sunning themselves on the rocks.

Pier 41: Look out over Alcatraz, Angel Island, and the Golden Gate Bridge.

Ferry Building : This ferry terminal has a striking clock tower that echoes the Giralda bell tower in Seville, Spain.

Financial District : The clout and prestige of the Financial District are embodied by its cluster of high-rise towers, which gesture powerfully towards a California sky.

South of Market: A funky patchwork of old warehouses, trendy nightclubs, and furniture showrooms give this area its very own flavor.

North Beach : A pristine, Italian-flavored community named one of the “10 Great Neighborhoods in America” by the American Planning Association.

Nob Hill : See San Francisco’s iconic cable cars make the climb through this beautiful hilly neighborhood, which was almost completely destroyed by the 1906 earthquake.
