This tour is a fascinating introduction to the secrets and tales of the Old Town of Edinburgh. Your tour will follow the Royal Mile; the the main artery of the Old Town area which runs from Edinburgh Castle to Holyrood Palace.
This tour will lead you where tour buses or guide books won’t take you; the closes, wynds, courtyards and homes of Old Edinburgh.
You will meet your guide at Mercat Cross, an octagonal monument on the Royal Mile, opposite City Chambers.
Your tour will take you through the narrow alleyways of the Royal Mile, often no more than a few feet wide, leading downhill on either side of the main spine forming a herringbone pattern. There are numerous notable buildings in the area such as St. Giles' Cathedral .
Visit Parliament Hall which is the oldest part of the Scottish Parliament and was once the supreme court. It was built in 1632 and while it may no longer be a functioning court the hall has hardly changed and will transport you back hundreds of years.
The tour also includes a visit to the Discovery Room and an intriguing presentation. Written translations available on request (Fr, Ger, It, Sp, Rus).
The tour ends at World’s End, St Mary’s Street.
