The East Coast of the United Arab Emirates comprises the Emirates of Fujairah and portions of the Emirate of Sharjah that lies on the Indian Ocean at the foot of the Hajar mountains. It is regarded as the most scenic area of the country. A guide English speaking will accompany you on this tour.
En route, you will see the agricultural areas of Al Dhaid. The terrain changes from a flat desert to spectacular hills. The coastline is dotted with small fishing villages, including the old village of Dibba, once a strategically important settlement that offers stunning views of the Persian Gulf.
Along the coastline, you will arrive at the oldest mosque in the country, the Al Bidya Mosque that was built in the 15th century. It is also known as the Ottoman Mosque, for the man who built it. Inside the mosque, you will come across a prayer hall with a prayer niche, a rostrum, arches and openings.
Further on, pass through the port towns of Khor Fakkan and Fujairah and explore the ruins of the mountain dwellers who moved away from oil exploration to start a fishing village. Also visit the impressive 300-year-old Fort of Fujairah and the fortress nearby Bithnah oasis. Along the way, stop for lunch at a local restaurant (cost not included). Your last stop will be the Friday Market, where your can shop for pottery, carpets and range of traditional craftwork.
After exploring the colourful local market of the East Coast, you will be dropped back to the starting point of the tour.
