This tour is available in two options – coach and private. The private option offers you greater flexibility and you can spend as much or as little time at any of the places that you visit. Unlike the tight and fixed schedules of coach tours, the private option allows you to do the tour at your own pace.
This tour starts off from the attractive little town of Mae Hong Son and takes you into the lush forests of this area.
During the course of this day you will visit the villages of different hill tribe ethnic groups - Lisu, Black Lahu and Karen hill tribes. You will get a glimpse of their daily lives and traditions and the famous Fish Cave of Tham Pla Forest Park.
The Lisu are one of the main six hill tribes of Thailand. They preserve their history in the form of songs passed from one generation to the next. The women are noted for their brightly coloured dresses.
The Lahu live in bamboo houses built on high stilts and thatched roofs. The women are skilled cloth and basket weavers. The Black Lahu women wear distinctive costumes within this tribe. They wear a black cloak with diagonal cream stripes. The top of the sleeve is decorated in bold colours of red and yellow. The Lahu are a proud, independent people who love music and entertainment.
The Karen people (originally from Myanmar) form the largest of the major hill tribes of Thailand. They live in isolated picturesque villages of Northern Thailand. Each of the many sections of this ethnic group has their own style of dress. The women of the Paduong are noted for the heavy brass rings worn around their necks from an early age.
The Tham Pla Forest Park surrounds the lovely Fish Caves where a small stream emerges from the base of the hill. The stream is filled with fish that can grow up to three feet long! The fish are quite safe as they are believed to be sacred.
The park is a serene place with trees lining the stream and excellent amenities for visitors. It is an ideal place for a quiet afternoon.
The tour includes a stop for lunch. The lunch will be prepared and packed in a lunch box.
After the trip you will be returned to your hotel at around 1730h (5:30pm).
