You will be picked up in an air-conditioned coach from the Sihlquai bus parking near Zurich Main Train Station. Accompanied by a bi-lingual guide speaking English and German, you will journey on the Panorama Highway to Rapperswil, well known for its medieval castle. It is popularly known as the ‘City of Roses’ for its beautiful scenery.
Further on, proceed to the picturesque village of Appenzell, a canton situated in Eastern Switzerland. Set out on a guided walk through the village and you will come across lovely old painted houses.
After the stroll, take a short drive to Brulisau. It is the beginning of a spectacular mountain trail from Staubern up to the Hoher Kasten. From Brulisau, take an aerial cable-car to the peak of the panorama mountain Hoher Kasten, at a height of about 1795 metres. After reaching the top, enjoy fantastic views over the hilly Appenzellerland. Visit the new revolving restaurant on top of the mountain, the only one in Eastern Switzerland, with incredible views. The restaurant turns 360 degrees each hour. You can relax with a cup of coffee here (cost not included).
Return to Brulisau in cable-car and drive back to Appenzell where you can enjoy about 1 ½ hours at leisure. The pedestrian zone of Appenzell with its beautiful facades invites you for strolling and shopping.
You could take an optional trip to the Museum of Appenzell, where you can learn about the way of life in this part of Switzerland. It is a private museum that exhibits a cross-section of local history and culture.

Starting out as the chocolate pioneer in Switzerland, Lindt & Sprüngli has developed into a modern company over the years with its finest selection of chocolate and confectionary specialities. You will be shown a video on the manufacture of chocolate. You can even shop for chocolates from the chocolate-land factory shop.
