There is no hotel pick-up for your Lausanne City Tour. You should make your way to the meeting point at 'Place du Port' in front of the castle of Ouchy.
Before boarding your coach, take a moment to look at around at the glamorous lakeside resort of Ouchy, with its charming parks and lakeside promenades, and enjoy the stunning views of the Alps. You can even see France (Évian-les-Bains, Thonon) from here.
With your English and French speaking guide, you will drive from Ouchy towards the center of lovely Lausanne. The city is built on several hilltops, linked by bridges spanning deep, riverless gorges. Much of its picturesque Old Town is pedestrianized so you will disembark from your coach to enjoy a fascinating walking tour of the historic area.
On the way, 'shopaholics' will find much to tempt them in the chic upmarket boutiques, while architecture enthusiasts will love the grand old buildings.
The Old Town is dominated by Lausanne Cathedral (Cathédrale Notre-Dame, payable direct), generally held to be the most beautiful Gothic church in Switzerland.
Construction of the building began in 1175 and it was consecrated in 1275 by Pope Gregory X. Throughout the Middle Ages, pilgrims flocked to the cathedral to pray before the Golden Virgin, a miraculous statue of the Virgin Mary.
After your enjoyable walking tour, you will board your coach again for the short journey back to the starting point at 'Place du Port' in front of the castle of Ouchy.
