The Imperial city of Toledo – A World Heritage city - seems to be one large museum. Hardly any other town is so well conserved in its historical style. The best way to explore Toledo is to take a long walk through it and look at the buildings of various epochs.
Just 70 kilometres from Madrid, the ‘Imperial Toledo’ is a city encircled by the River Tagus and home to three different cultures – Christian, Moorish and Jewish – that coexisted together for centuries. Their influences have left many architectural and artistic reminders all over the city.
You will be picked up from Plaza de Espana, 7, Madrid. Accompanied by a multi-lingual guide, you will travel by deluxe air-conditioned coach to the imperial city of Toledo.
Your tour will explore and show many architectural and artistic styles such as "Mudejar" Gothic, and Renaissance. You will take an orientation of the city which shows you the main highlights such as:
The Gothic Cathedral contains many famous works of art including those of El Greco.(Seen from the outside only).
St. Tome Church - with its mudejar Tower and El Greco’s most famous painting, “The Burial of Count Orgaz”
Synagogue de "Santa Maria La Blanca" is a beautiful construction in the ‘mudejar’ style and in the medieval Jewish quarter of Toledo.
The Victorio Macho Museum - is now a museum containing some of his best known sculptures and is situated right in the heart of the Aljama, Toledo's old Jewish Quarter.
The Monastery of the San Juan of the Kings – A 15th century monastery in the Gothic-Spanish-Flemish style was built on the orders of King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella.
At the end of the tour you will be dropped off at Plaza de Espana, 7, Madrid.
