Itinerary

The Historic Granada Sightseeing Tour is a comprehensive tour of the most famous landmarks of Granada. Hotel pick-ups are included for guests staying in central Granada hotels or you can meet your guide at at Cathedral main entrance in Gran Via Street.

Your tour starts with a visit to the great Granada cathedral, a Spanish Renaissance masterpiece built by Queen Isabella I on the site of an ancient mosque. One of its most famous features is the exquisite Capilla Real (Royal Chapel) where Queen Isabella I and King Ferdinand II, and their children, Phillip "The Beautiful" and Joan "The Mad", are buried.

Your guide will lead you uphill to Albaycin, the old Arab quarter, built on a medieval town plan with cobbled streets and small squares. Walk through a maze of narrow streets scented with jasmine, to reach St Nicholas Church (Mirador de San Nicolas). Stop in the plaza outside the Church to enjoy breath-taking views of the Alhambra, Granada and Sierra Nevada.

Next to Albaycin is the hill of Sacromonte, another old part of Granada. The soft rock of this hill has been excavated to create cave dwellings inhabited for generations by a vibrant gypsy community. This community has developed and nurtured the traditions of a flamboyant form of flamenco dance, which dates back to Moorish times.

You will stop to have a drink in one of the atmospheric caves before being taken back to your hotel.
