Make your way to Comércio Square for your Sintra Scenic Tour, where you will board your air-conditioned coach. With your multi-lingual guide (speaking English, French and Portuguese) you will drive through scenic craggy hills and woods to the historic town of Sintra.
The poet Byron described the medieval part of Sintra as "the most pleasing (town) in Europe". You have 2 hours to explore this enchanting place, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site on account of its 19th century Romantic architecture. You can shop, admire the views or visit the Pena National Palace. This is the best preserved medieval royal palace in Portugal, inhabited more or less continuously from the early 15th up to the late 19th century.
Leaving Sintra, the next stop is Cabo da Roca (01 Mar - 31 Oct) the westernmost point of Europe. You will stop for about 20 minutes for a marvelous view of the ocean and seashore from a height of about 140 meters. Later, you will view the Boca do Inferno (Hell’s Mouth) – a picturesque chasm formed by wave erosion.
Last stop on your tour (10 minutes) is at the beautiful coastal town of Cascais. Once a humble fishing village, it became a holiday resort for royalty and nobility in the late 19th century and acquired many elegant mansions as a result. You will see local fishing boats unloading their catch and enjoy a magnificent panorama of the coastline.
At the end of your delightful excursion, you will be dropped back at the starting point.
